May Day!

Only 11 days left to the wedding - ooh getting very exciting now!

A lot of people have asked various questions about the night before, the morning after and all the exciting things that Doncaster has to offer. So this post should help to answer some of those questions!

The Night Before

James is spending the night before with his stag buddies ( god help us all).

Melissa is arranging an early evening meal at Hatfields Pub famed for it's two for one meal offers!

If you think you will be in Hatfield by 7.30pm and would like to join team Severn please email us and we will book the appropriate size table. Feel free to join me for a drink later ( although i am going to bed early!)

Most people are stopping at either the Travelodge or The Belmont ( Thorne has never been so popular). From the last list i had i think it is roughly

Travelodge

- Lee
- Steve
- Kelly
- Andrea, Alex, Noah and Edie
- Melissa's brother Jamie and Selina
- Emily, Owen, Rose and Lena
- Dawn, Noon, Imi and Sam

The Belmont
- Ailsa and Mike
- Sarah and Jamie
- Tony
- Juliet and Ian
- Sarah, Miles and Louisa
- Claire and Nigel
- Al and Jan

Hatfield Waterpark
- Claire and Nigel ( Saturday)
- Sue and Gill ( Saturday)
- Susan, Duncan and family
- Melissa and James ( Saturday)

The Travelodge is 1 mile from Hatfield and is walkable across public footpaths but would also not be expensive in a taxi. The Waterpark is a 10 minute walk from the village. You can walk this along a public footpath and it bring you out by jubilee fields ( a play area) and the church. The Belmont is in the next village along ( Thorne) , 3 miles from Hatfield . Thorne boasts an interesting weekend night life! There are some nice pubs for eating in especially by the canal.

The canal tavern serves food on Friday until 8.30pm

The best pub for home cooking is the Bay Horse on the High Street in Hatfield. They do real ale and are famous for their pies ( everyone recommends the rabbit pie but can't say i've tried it!). I think they finish serving quite sharpish. They also do a great quiz on a Sunday night often written by our photographer Tim! Worth going to for Sunday lunch but you do need to book!

It may be worth arranging amongst you a car share for the church and hall and then a taxi collection. Then the next day people can return the favour by driving people back to their cars.

On the Day

If you are thinking of food ( James always is!) you may wish to visit some of the establishments above on the Saturday lunch time. BE WARNED the Bay Horse is a small pub and you will smell of pub lunch after! There is a nice cafe in the village ' Coffee at number four' which serves hot and cold food. There are three other local pubs that are all nice and do food The Bluebell in the village and a further mile on Hatfields and The Chase. There are also two bakeries that do sandwiches - Cooplands is famed for its ploughman's and chocolate concrete. Rhodes the Bakers does nice cream cakes. If all else fails there is a Tesco Metro!

We will be serving the pig at around 5.30pm.

The Morning After
Drop in and say hi to the Mr and Mrs Lowndes when you collect your car.

Harold will be wielding his Frying pan the morning after if any of you would like to join us at the village hall for a chin wag and a bap before you go on your merry way. Some helpers to tidy up would also be appreciated!
If you are planning on Sunday lunch before you go there are a plethora of pucker pubs to choose from apart from those mentioned above -

The Green Tree Inn - Carvery
